Surface Profiles (And a word about "Oil Canning")
FormTight specializes in fabricating your metal roof panels to custom lengths right at your location. This is done with high precision machines utilizing the finest quality aluminum or zinc-coated steel delivered in large coils with a smooth finish. No matter the machine, material, nor panel type, the possibility of "Oil Canning" does exist and is dependent on a variety of factors. Within the industry, "Oil Canning" is considered a natural feature of of metal roofs and generally unavoidable. However, the effects of "Oil Canning" can be greatly reduced (but may not be eliminated) with the addition of a surface profile or "Stiffening Ribs". In addition to the smooth finish of the standard coil material, FormTight offers "Striated" or "Ribbed" panels to assist in combatting "Oil Canning".
